Curriculum Vitae

Jantine Liedewij Spilt was born on March 27th, 1981, in Huizen, The Netherlands. After graduating from high school at the “Erfgooiers College” in Huizen in 1999, she studied Psychology at the Maastricht University. She completed two Master’s tracks, Developmental Psychology and Psychopathology, and attended courses in Psychology of Religion at the Radboud University in Nijmegen. In her Master’s thesis, advised by dr. Denise Bodden and prof. dr. Susan Bögels, she studied symptoms of juvenile and adult separation anxiety in families, and examined linkages with attachment security and childrearing practices. In 2004, Jantine obtained her Master’s degree in Biological Psychology and the psychodiagnostic registration of the Dutch Institute of Psychologists (NIP). During her studies, Jantine was employed part-time as a teaching assistant (tutor) at the Faculty of Psychology (2001-2004) and the Faculty of Health, Medicine and Life Sciences at the Maastricht University (2004). Furthermore, she participated in the Christian student’s association C.S.V. Ichthus Maastricht. She served on the board from 2002 to 2003. Since 2005, she was employed at the Department of Pedagogical and Educational Sciences of the University of Amsterdam where she carried out her PhD research, advised by dr. Helma Koomen and prof. dr. Aryan van der Leij. The focus of research was on interpersonal relationships between teachers and disruptive children in regular kindergarten classrooms. She obtained a travel grant from the Foundation Kohnstamm Fund for Educational research (SKVO) to visit Purdue University (USA) and Texas A & M University (USA) in 2009. In the same year, she received an International Travel Award from the Society for Research in Child Development (SRCD) to visit their Biennial Meeting. Jantine finished her PhD thesis in 2009. Next, she was appointed as a postdoctoral fellow at the same department. Her current research project is advised by dr. Helma Koomen and funded by the Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research (NWO). The project involves two review studies about teacher-child relationships.
