1. Nearly all organisms hold some kind of circadian clock
mechanism to exploit the rhythmic changes of the day and night cycle.
2. Finding the laboratory conditions reflecting an organism it’s natural habitat can be challenging
3. Energy metabolism is at the core of the circadian clock of S. cerevisiae
4. Population diversity benefits the common good
5. The vast amount of publicly available data is a valuable resource, however inaccurate data curation, interpretation and hypothecation could result in incorrect conclusions
6. When using computational methods, one should be aware of the GIGO-effect especially when using data from multiple resources 7. Too much effort is spent on polishing grant proposals and scientific publications
8. A PhD candidate acquires many more skills than just “the science”
