1. Met 'afval' kan men prachtige experimenten uitvoeren. (dit proefschrift)
2. De ene effector cel is de andere niet. (dit proefschrift)
3. Een kat in het nauw maakt rare sprongen: het effector-type fenotype van zowel hCMV-specifieke CDS• als CD4• T cellen lijkt een directe reactie op de immune-escape artiest hCMV.
4. Virus-specifieke T cellen in lymfoïde organen hebben andere fenotypes en functies dan die in het bloed. (dit proefschrift)
5. Muizen CMV-specifieke T cellen geven geen bescherming tegen CMV infectie bij de mens
6. Een wolf in schaapskleren: de oppervlakte kleuring van een virus-specifieke CDs+ T cel is per definitie niet een maat voor zijn functie. (dit proefschrift)
