Elsbeth F. Taminiau-Bloem studied Interdisciplinary Social Science at Utrecht University (1999-2004), and graduated in ‘culture, health and wellbeing’. She wrote her master’s thesis at the Helen Dowling Institute – Center for psycho-oncology in Utrecht, where she evaluated one of the group counseling programs. Elsbeth subsequently worked as research associate at this institute (2004) and as project associate at the Comprehensive Cancer Center in Amsterdam (2004-2005). In September 2005, she started her PhD project entitled ‘Understanding changes in quality of life in cancer patients: a cognitive interview approach’. In addition to her PhD project, Elsbeth taught communication skills to AMC medical students. Elsbeth has been co-chair of the New Investigators Special Interest Group of the International Society for Quality of Life Research (2007-2009) and member of the PhD-Council of the Research Institute for Psychology and Health (2007-2009). Currently, Elsbeth works as coordinator palliative care at the Comprehensive Cancer Center in Rotterdam.
