When Online Meets Offline: Research in Omni-Channel Marketing
by Lisan Lesscher
1. Whereas it is almost impossible to imagine living without being digital nowadays, it was nearly impossible to imagine living with these digital technologies a quarter of a century ago (Chapter 1).
2. Despite the rise of digital, direct mailing still serves as an effective marketing
communication tool, both by itself and in combination with digital marketing (Chapter 2). 3. In the light of the ongoing digitalization, direct mailing remains effective by influencing
online consumer activities in support of a cross-channel effect (Chapter 2).
4. The effectiveness of direct mailing might be underestimated by solely looking at the number of purchases as the only key performance indicator of a direct mailing campaign (Chapter 2).
5. The synergies between different marketing media should carefully be considered when integrating and evaluating marketing activities (Chapter 2).
6. Customers should not always be multichannel (Chapter 3).
7. Customers should not be forced into being multichannel; a more nuanced approach that accounts for brand and customer loyalty tiers may yield better revenue results for firms instead (Chapter 3).
8. “When you look at yourself from a universal standpoint, something inside always reminds
or informs you that there are bigger and better things to worry about.” – Albert Einstein
9. “To avoid situations in which you might make mistakes may be the biggest mistake of
all.” – Peter McWilliams
10. There is no such thing as perfection, so also no perfect PhD trajectory. Although, with the right supervisor team, interesting research topic(s) in collaborations with firms,

When Online Meets Offline: Research in Omni-Channel Marketing
van Lisan Lesscher
