Appendix I Test Plan

1. EVA2’s function check plan

Aim

EVA2’s function check plan is designed to check if all the hardware can work properly.

Functionality to be tested

• Function of ADC modules.

• Function of DAC modules.

• Function of PowerIO modules.

• Function of the Power supply board.

Hypothesis

When using the EVA Checker board which is designed with a GUI to check the ADC, DAC, PowerIO modules, all the test results are satisfactory. For Power supply board, when turn on the EVA2 set up, all power supplies, including 12 V, -12V, -5V, VCC, 3V3, PVCC, are working.

Target group & Measuring tools 1. Target group

• ADC modules.

• DAC modules.

• PowerIO modules.

• Power supply board.

2. Measuring tools

• Multimeter.

• EVA Checker board.

• SMU Actions

1. Insert the EVA Checker board into motherboard.

2. Power on EVA setup.

3. Connect SMU with motherboard via Banana chassis.

4. Check if all the LEDs corresponding to each power supplies is lighted on.

5. Use multiplexer to check if each pins’ voltage is same as the corresponding power supplies.

6. Open EVA Checker software and run the tests below:

- ADC test:

4 1) Click the ‘ADC Test’ button.

2) Press the ‘Self-test’ button to make sure the ADC function board test tool works 3) Click the ‘1.25V ref test’ to start testing all 96 channels of ADC modules.

4) Click the ‘4V ref test’ to start testing all 96 channels of ADC modules.

5) Select one channel and the testing voltage, and then, click the ‘Test’ button to test the target channel.

6) Close the ADC test window.

- DAC test:

1) Click the ‘DAC Test’ button.

2) Press the ‘Self-test’ button and short circuit test.

3) Click the ‘1.25V ref test’ to start testing all 96 channels of DAC modules.

4) Click the ‘4V ref test’ to start testing all 96 channels of DAC modules.

5) Select one channel and the testing voltage, and then, click the ‘Test’ button to test the target channel.

6) Close the DAC test window.

- PowerIO test:

1) Click the ‘PowerIO Test button.

2) Click ‘Auto test’ button to start testing all 96 channels of PowerIO modules.

3) Close the PowerIO test window.

7. Check if all the results are correct.

8. Close the main window and end the test.

Average bandwidth of reactions

The average bandwidth of reactions presents the different potential results of the test and the corresponding possible causes of the problem are also depicted.

8 Predicted conclusions

• If all the reactions are Situation 1, then the EVA2 setup is suitable for doing EVA2 calibration test.

• If the reactions are mixed with Situation 1 and 2 (and 3) or are all Situation 2 or 3, then the EVA2 setup does not reach the standards.
